Rear Hydraulic, Standard 1.5" Pin Additional Setup Options: 60 MM for +$1,850, Rear 1.5" Quick hitch Option for +$3,500, Rear 60MM Quick Hitch for rear +$4,000 BORN IN THE DIRT Contractors are a special breed. You live your work and expect the equipment you buy to work harder than you do. That’s what makes the 220TS4 unique – it was built by engineers and skilled craftsman who have spent their lives working in the dirt searching for solutions to allow you to Do More. Features may include: Hitch System: By running your tractors drawbar pin horizontally thru the hitch’s two ears, your scraper can be mounted closer to the tractor's rear axle, which helps keep the front of MFWD tractor weighed down. The drawbars vertical pin is mounted 22” behind the horizontal drawbar pin, which provides you with a superior turning radius. Over engineered with higher strength material and additional support gussets. Heavy steel bulkhead and ridged hose stand keep hydraulic lines safe and secure. Front Section: Vertically mounted 5.5" x 20" friction welded trunnion mount cylinders with a nitro bar rod are attached directly over the blade set. These cylinders are mounted in a nearly vertical position so that when the operator retracts the cylinder one inch, the blade moves one inch. This enables you to maintain greater control of engine RPMs and ground speed. By moving faster, the dirt continues to “boil,” developing bigger and quicker loads. Ashland utilizes a thick walled 16” round front section pipe for the 220TS4. A standard hydraulic accumulator provides a smoother ride by absorbing shock loads while transporting fully loaded scrapers. This adds protection for both the scraper and the tractor without the need for any additional plumbing. The Pole is box built with an internal skeleton vs. formed halves to increase rigidity. The tapered trailing arm has excellent depth of frame near the front pipe to reduce failure at the corners. And with an elevated Front Section pipe, operators can take advantage of unmatched visibility and greater clearance while loading piles or in areas with heavy debris such as tall grass or brush. Front Pipe: Round structures, such as the heavy wall pipe that Ashland uses in its Front Section, handle torsional loads (twisting loads) much better than square or rectangle tubing. With rounded pipe, the stress of your load is displaced around the entire circumference of the structure — with any other style, stress is amplified in the corners and seams. Concentrated stress can cause the tubing to fail in these areas, making our Front Section pipe a superior design. Apron: The 220TS4 scraper has a spacious front opening for material to easily fall forward and be leveled out by the blade while ejecting. Uses big 5” x 13” friction welded hydraulic cylinders for maximum clamping force. The side of Ashland Aprons have close tolerance to the Bowls sidewalls — this tight fit ensures that debris won’t bend the Apron inward as the ejector moves forward. Bowl: The 220TS4 has a 22-cu. yd. heaped capacity and a 16-cu. yd. struck capacity, with a dual plated floor system. This system consists of two heavy plates that support both the top and bottom edges of the moldboard, ensuring that the floor will remain straight and strong when coming in contact with large objects such as stumps or rocks. The scraper incorporates a five-piece blade set secured with grade eight bolts and nuts. The protruding center blade extends longer than the neighboring corner blades to bite into material.

About this machine

The Ashland 220TS4 is a pull scraper — sometimes called a towed scraper or drag scraper — a type of earthmoving implement that is hitched behind a tractor to cut, load, haul, and spread large volumes of soil in a single pass. Pull scrapers are widely used in land grading, site preparation, road building, and agricultural earthmoving. Ashland is a recognised manufacturer of pull-type scrapers built for heavy contractor and construction use.

This 2020 machine carries a 20-cubic-yard struck capacity and a heaped capacity of 22 cubic yards, with a cutting width of 10 feet 6 inches. The bowl incorporates a dual-plated floor system, in which two heavy plates support both the upper and lower edges of the moldboard to keep the floor straight and resistant to impact from stumps, rocks, and other buried obstructions. The five-piece blade set is secured with grade-eight bolts and nuts, and the centre blade protrudes beyond the corner blades to bite into material ahead of the rest of the cutting edge.

The front section is built around a heavy-wall 16-inch round pipe, a geometry chosen because circular cross-sections distribute torsional and twisting loads evenly around the full circumference rather than concentrating stress at corners or seams as square or rectangular tubing would. The pole itself is box-built with an internal skeleton rather than formed halves, adding rigidity, and the tapered trailing arm carries increased frame depth near the front pipe to reduce the risk of corner failure. A standard hydraulic accumulator is integrated into the front section to absorb shock loads when transporting a full bowl, protecting both the scraper and the tractor without additional plumbing.

The lift cylinders are 5.5-inch by 20-inch friction-welded trunnion-mount units with nitro bar rods, mounted vertically directly above the blade set. This near-vertical orientation means that one inch of cylinder retraction produces one inch of blade movement, giving the operator precise incremental control over cut depth, engine RPM, and ground speed. The apron uses 5-inch by 13-inch friction-welded hydraulic cylinders for clamping force, and close tolerances between the apron sides and the bowl sidewalls prevent debris from deflecting the apron inward during ejection.

The hitch is designed so that the tractor's drawbar pin runs horizontally through two ears, mounting the scraper close to the rear axle to keep weight on the front of MFWD tractors. The vertical pin sits 22 inches behind the horizontal drawbar pin to provide a wide turning radius. The hitch assembly is built with higher-strength material and additional support gussets, and a heavy steel bulkhead with a rigid hose stand protects the hydraulic lines.

As listed, the machine is equipped with rear hydraulic connections and a standard 1.5-inch pin hitch, with upgraded radial 20.5R25 tyres. Additional factory setup options noted by the seller include a 60 mm pin configuration, a rear 1.5-inch quick-hitch option, and a rear 60 mm quick-hitch, each available at a separately quoted cost. The machine is located in Missouri, USA.
