About this machine

This Furukawa HCR9ES is a used vertical drill — sometimes referred to as a crawler drill or rock drill — a type of machine used in mining, quarrying, and construction applications to bore vertical or near-vertical holes into rock and earth. Furukawa is a well-established Japanese manufacturer with a long history of producing hydraulic drilling equipment, rock drills, and related machinery for the mining and construction industries.

This 1995 example is described by the seller as a true low-hour machine, and it has undergone thorough servicing prior to listing. The engine is reported to sound excellent, and the drifter — the hydraulic percussive hammer unit that drives the drill string — is described as performing well, with good air confirmed. Pins and bushings are tight throughout.

The majority of the hydraulic cylinders have been resealed as part of the service. The only two not addressed are the inner boom extension cylinder, which shows a very slight drip, and the small dust hood slide cylinder, which is reported as not leaking. All other cylinders have been fully resealed. Hoses have been partially replaced, and all hoses have been regrouped and tidied. The throttle cable has been replaced, and wiring repairs have been carried out along with the installation of a new fuse set. All gauges have been replaced, as the original gauges were vandalized.

The machine is located in Kentucky, USA, and is offered at $40,000.
