The KT-100S hand-held metal analyzer will easily identify the most difficult alloy grades in a few seconds. The KT-100S uses Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS), enabling permanent and accurate alloy identification for use in:
• Scrap sorting
• Quality assurance in metalworking
• Positive Materials Identification (PMI) in mission-critical operations such as aerospace and petrochemicals
• Advanced identification of light elements
LIBS is more sensitive and better suited to detecting light elements such as aluminum (Al), magnesium (Mg), and beryllium (Be). However, reliable analysis of materials containing these elements by LIBS has been very limited and has typically been confined to the laboratory environment - until now. The KT-100S handheld metal analyzer represents the latest technological achievements in the miniaturization of lasers and spectrometers, which have quickly expanded the use of this technique to industrial applications. The KT-100S offers an advanced method for easy identification of the most common Al grades – 1100, 6061 and 6063 – as well as brass and bronze Al and silicon (Si) or Be in copper.
In addition to the analytical performance of LIBS technology, the KT-100S reduces the need for regulatory licensing and registration that previous generation analyzers were susceptible to.
Lasting versatility
The KT-100S LIBS handheld analyzer is not only an excellent aluminum analyzer, but also provides accurate identification of popular grades of stainless steel, nickel alloys and titanium, ensuring durability you can count on. The KT-100S has successfully passed rigorous endurance tests, confirming its capabilities in the most difficult conditions. To guarantee protection, the KT-100S has undergone rigorous testing in accordance with US Military Standard 810-G. These tests included rigorous vibration, shock and drop tests to assess durability and performance when exposed to environmental factors. Additionally, the IP-54 rating and safety window protect against dusty and humid environments. As the first handheld analyzer to pass these tests, it is truly optimized for harsh environments. In this way, the KT-100S reduces downtime and costs associated with instrument repair, which is common with traditional handheld metal analyzers.
Sophisticated ergonomics
The design and features of the LIBS KT-100S handheld analyzer put it in a class of its own. Ergonomics include the gun's shape for optimal one-handed operation with raised buttons or "quick launch" navigation buttons near the trigger. The tiltable screen allows easy reading of results in any light and can also be operated as a touch screen. The KT-100S is also much smaller and lighter than traditional metal analyzers. The unique grab-and-go "stand" provides additional comfort.
QuickID™ software
Quick selection of matrix, chemical composition and species identification is simple and easy to read with the QuickID software of the LIBS KT-100S handheld. The results are displayed in a simple pass/fail format that informs the user of the alloy identification as well as the percentage of elemental composition. Users have the ability to quickly add new alloys to a customized onboard library. The KT-100S is also password protected and has an automatic "sleep mode" for improved security and battery life. The built-in camera records images of the analyzed metal elements with the ability to send data to a report via USB or Wi-Fi.
Sample surface preparation
The metal found in these types of industrial environments is usually dirty and oxidized. The KT-100S has a patent-pending automatic Drill Down sample surface preparation function. Users have the ability to dynamically "drill" and the analyzer automatically burns through common metal imperfections to produce a clean reading.
